Botswana Railways Donates Computers, Office Furniture and Litter Drums

In its commitment to the Vision 2016 awareness celebrations throughout September, Botswana Railways (BR) will be donating computers, office furniture and litter drums to various communities around the country.

In an effort to align BR’s core business with one of the pillars of Vision 2016: a prosperous, productive and innovative nation, Botswana Railways will donate thirty (30) litter drums to the Mahalapye Sub District Council.  These litter drums will be mounted in schools and along main roads in Mahalapye.  The donation of the drums will ensure that Batswana living in Mahalapye and on transit will take pride in their clean and unlittered surroundings.

Botswana Railways will further fulfil the Pillar of; an educated, informed nation by donating computers to schools around the Railway’s catchment areas.  These are;  Shanganani Community Junior Secondary School in Tsamaya, Tshesebe Community Junior Secondary School, Bonwatlou Community Junior Secondary School in Serule, Chichi Community Junior Secondary School in  Molapowabojang, Mmaphashalala Primary School, Flowertown Primary School in Mahalapye, Mookane Primary School, Chadibe Primary School and Shoshong Secondary School. BR aspires to assist schools in delivering quality education to the youth whilst affording them the opportunity to learn essential professional skills.

In the same spirit of giving, Botswana Railways will donate office furniture to Mother’s Union, which is a centre based in Mahalapye that caters for orphans and other vulnerable children as well as out of school youth.  This gesture is in line with the Vision 2016 pillar of a compassionate just and caring nation.

The above donations will be made by Botswana Railways’ Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Andrew Lunga, at BR’s Headquarters in Mahalapye at 10h00 on Tuesday, September 25th 2007.
