Volleyball Tournament a Success

Mag Stimela Volleyball Club hosted a successful friendly tournament on June 17, 2017 at the BR Grounds. The tournament featured Eagles Volleyball Club from South Africa, Botswana International University of Science and Technology (BIUST) team, Mahalapye Community clubs together with the hosts.

Mag Stimela came out tops winning all the ladies category matches without conceding a single set. On the other hand, the men narrowly missed the top spot as they slumped to a 3-2 defeat on the final to the BIUST team that put up a spirited fight against the experienced league outfit. Fortune favored the BIUST team as they prevailed on the tightly contested 5th set with both sides digging deep to win the deciding set.

The visitors from South African stood no chance against the local counterparts losing all their games. Their team coach Mr. James said that there were positives to take from the games and it was a much-needed practice for them to improve where they lack. Mag Stimela team coach Mr. Molefi noted that they wish to stage more of such tournaments because they give them physical and mental preparedness to face off with local giants in the volleyball league. He also said the friendly games created an opportunity for the teams to engage in competitive sportsmanship.

The all-day event attracted scores of volleyball fanatics who thronged the BR Grounds.
