BOTSWANA, NAMIBIA DETERMINED TO DELIVER RAIL PROJECT

The Acting Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Transport and Public Works, Mr. Bareng C. Malatsi together with the Executive Director in the Ministry of Works and Transport-Namibia, Ms. Esther Kaapanda today, co-chaired the Joint Steering Committee (JSC) of the Trans Kalahari Railway (TKR) in Windhoek, Namibia in preparation for the Joint Ministerial Committee (JMC) meeting slated for tomorrow (30/8/2023).The JMC session which will be co-chaired by Minister of Transport and Public Works, Honourable Eric Mothibi Molale and his counterpart, the Minister of Works and Transport Honourable John Mutorwa is expected to examine progress made in the implementation of the TKR roadmap among other things.Through the construction of the railway line project (for both green field and brown field), the two countries intends to improve freight rail services, create the much-needed jobs as well as economic benefits for both citizens.The rail project is expected to transport various commodities to and from overseas market.
