Botswana Railways Participates in the MTC Wellness Day
Botswana Railways took part in the Wellness Day organized by the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC) on Friday 25, August 2017 at the Botswana National Youth Council (BNYC) grounds.
The Wellness Day was part of the National AIDS Coordinating Agency (NACA) wellness campaign which it rolled out to different Ministry departments and parastatals. The objective of the event was to promote healthy lifestyles, interaction and networking to maintain a healthy human resource. The day was dedicated to wellbeing, with activities that push people to start living better and healthier.
The participants were also urged to regularly exercise and eat healthy food in order to curb non-communicable diseases because regular physical activity has the ability to reduce the risk of several major chronic diseases, as well as promote quality of life and a sense of wellbeing.
Outdoor fitness events were done including aerobics, athletics, football, netball, tug of war among others. Botswana Railways fielded a number of employees who strongly competed in the friendly games. Our team was one of the fittest and competitive alongside the youthful Bofinet team. To wrap up the day, various tests were done including BMI Tests, Visual Acuity Screening, Fitness Assessment, Health Screenings and HIV Testing.
