HE & MD Charity Fun Cycle

President Lt Gen. Dr. Seretse Khama Ian Khama was among riders who took part in the inaugural Bank Gaborone and President Charitable Fund fun cycle on Sunday 10th July 2016. The race took riders from Airport Junction Mall joining the A1 highway north bound up to the Mmamashia junction.The charitable event, which will be held annually, was aimed at raising funds for the President’s Housing Appeal as well as Bank Gaborone’s financial literacy programme. Minister of Transport and Communication Tshenolo Mabeo, who led the colourful and youthful BR Express team, noted that he was impressed by the level of enthusiasm for his ministry’s road safety campaign and also said that cyclists play a major role in the campaign just like any other road users. He then presented a whooping P155 000 cheque towards this initiative from his ministry, parastatals and departments including the P10 000 Botswana Railways has contributed. The Initiative raised P700 000 towards the President’s Housing Appeal.To date the Charitable Fund had so far built about 621 houses thus accommodating over 6 000 people with 41 houses still under construction. Cabinet Ministers Kitso Mokaila, Nonofo Molefhi, Bank Gaborone’s Executive Management team and Minister of Youth, Sport and Culture, Thapelo Olopeng who later joined the festivities for the awards ceremony joined President Khama.
