It's More Than Shopping

In an effort to create an interactive face-to-face platform between Botswana Railways (BR) and it customers, the organisation took part in this year’s consumer fair. The seven-day exhibition was held in Gaborone from 21-27 August, 2017 at Fair Grounds Holdings under the theme “It’s more than shopping”. Botswana Railways team at the consumer fair had their beautiful put stall full of marketing information on the Passenger Train Service “BR Express “as well as the overnight service “Blue Mark”.

This exercise was carried out with the sole objective of increasing publicity and aggressively market those two business units and subsequently attracting more customers.

As always members of the public expressed joy at the re-introduction of the passenger train service as it helps facilitate travel and provide a more convenient and safe alternative mode of transport. They said it aids them in their travel to medical checkups, interviews, ease congestions on the road during public holidays and peak days. Blue Mark was also appreciated as an affordable, safe and very convenient parcel delivery service. Meanwhile some members of the public expressed dissatisfaction that it is costly to board the BR Express when travelling to places such as Tonota, Ramotswa and Pilane. They suggested that Botswana Railways Management should revise the number of train stations from six to nine.

For her part the Botswana Railways Passenger Service Manager Ms. Gaone Kepadisa expressed gratitude to customers for visiting the Botswana Railways stall. She noted all the feedback for valuation by the BR Management.

The Consumer Fair attracted more than five hundred exhibitors form different sectors including Mining, Manufacturing and Hospitality. The event attracted the locals, ten African countries, India and Japan, therefore making it the biggest platform for exhibitors to display and sell products and services off the stand.
