STRENGTHENING THE FLEET, STRENGTHENING THE SERVICE

Botswana Railways is in the middle of a deliberate push to improve fleet availability, reliability, and the overall customer experience, and the results are starting to show.BR has completed the maintenance of 34 BPT tankers in partnership with ARC. These tankers are now back on the line and running. Alongside this, 34 BSA wagons (for soda ash) have completed a brake modification process in South Africa and have returned to active service on the network.Furthermore, the organization has also made significant progress on its BSO wagon (for bulk salt) fleet. 64 wagons have been maintained and refurbished to date. Of these, 24 have already been delivered and are running, while the remaining 40 are complete and delivery on progress. Together, this represents 132 pieces of rolling stock brought back into service, a direct investment in the reliability customers depend on.For Botswana Railways, this work translates into more available wagons for cargo movement, fewer service disruptions, and a stronger ability to meet customer demand on time. It is a concrete example of what the organization's transformation journey looks like in practice, not just a strategic commitment on paper, but tangible progress on the ground. This is one part of a broader effort across BR to modernize operations and rebuild trust with the customers and communities the railway serves.
