OFFICIAL OPENING OF THE TRANS KALAHARI RAILWAY JOINT MINISTERIAL COMMITTEE (JMC) MEETING

The Minister of Transport and Public Works, and current Trans Kalahari Corridor (TKC) Chairperson, Hon. Eric Molale is chairing a meeting in the ongoing session of the Special Joint Ministerial Committee (JMC) in Windhoek, Namibia. The tripartite member states of Botswana, Namibia and South Africa are making deliberations on the TKC Project and all issues pertaining to the development of a heavy-haul railway line between Botswana and Namibia. The project is undertaken through a Bilateral Agreement between the Governments of Botswana and Namibia which was signed in March 2014. The session has also approved the Expression of Interest (EOI) on the implementation of the TKC Project which is expected to run from September 2023 to November 2023. The member states will later this afternoon officially inaugurate the TKC Secretariat building in Windhoek, Namibia
