PARENTAL INVOLVEMENT A KEY ROLE IN THE MORAL TRANSFORMATION AND ACADEMIC ADVANCEMENT
The aspirant regional eader in customer driven transport logistics solutions, Botswana Railways donated a P5 000.00 worth gift to Shoshong Junior Secondary School for winning 2017 Junior Certificate floating trophy in the Mahalapye –Shoshong Cluster.
Botswana Railways Director Human Capital, Mr. Letlhogonolo Bantsi called on parents, teachers and the business community to provide all the support that learners require since education is collaborative effort. “Education is like a 3-legged pot, if one leg is not functioning the pot does not balance”, said Bantsi.
He emphasised the need for all stakeholders to come together for a common goal to assist the education sector. He noted that government alone cannot shoulder everything hence the need for stakeholders to come on board. He added that it is crucial that partnerships between parents, teachers, students and other individuals within the communities be nurtured to ensure that all people have a hand in driving excellence in schools. Bantsi said the good track record of good performance in Shoshong Junior is an indication that school management did not look only at their challenges but worked hard to achieve the intended goal. Appreciating the gift, the School Head for Shoshong Junior Secondary School Ms Kealeba Gaborekwe applauded the students and teachers for winning the Floating trophy and urged them to work very hard so that they keep the trophy if they win it for 2 consecutive years. This initiative has been ongoing since 2001 and from that time Botswana Railways has remained committed to this course as it realises the importance of education.
