At the just-ended panel discussion on "Dry Ports: Efficient Freight Movement and Regional Connectivity," Botswana Railways Caretake GM stressed the importance of regional connectivity. Noting that as a country we see the railway as more than a transit route. It is an opportunity to drive economic diversification and industrialisation across the region.The panel agreed that the region needs a clear understanding of rail capacity, and that countries must sit together and plan as a region, not in isolation, if we are to truly connect and optimise our corridors.
