SEARAIL HOSTS MINISTER OF TRANSPORT AND INFRASTRUCTURE
SeaRail (Pty) Ltd recently hosted Botswana’s Minister of Transport and Infrastructure (MTI), Mr. Noah Salakae, in a meeting that highlighted the company’s achievements and its role in the country’s logistics sector. Botswana Railways Acting General Manager, Ms. Chelesile Malele, was among the key attendees. Accompanying Minister Salakae were His Excellency, the High Commissioner of Botswana to Namibia, Mr. Phemelo Mbi Rankoro, the Permanent Secretary of MTI, Mr. Kgakgamalo Ketshajwang, and his Deputy, Mr. Johannes Tsimako. During the briefing, SeaRail’s Managing Director, Mr. Derick Mokgatle, provided an overview of the company’s milestones since its establishment in 2013. He further highlighted SeaRail’s significant contributions, particularly its role in handling major consignments. One notable achievement was the transportation of bridge components for Botswana’s Mohembo Bridge, which required moving over 230 truckloads, including 25 classified as abnormal loads. Minister Salakae reaffirmed his commitment to supporting SeaRail in unlocking further opportunities. He further emphasized the importance of public-private partnerships (PPPs) in fostering economic growth and called for continued collaboration between SeaRail and the Government of Botswana. He assured stakeholders that his office remains open for regular consultations, reinforcing the government’s role as a strategic partner in SeaRail’s future development and expansion.
