Botswana Railways team, led by Chief Operating Officer Ms. Chelesile Malele participated in the annual Southern African Railways Association (SARA) Conference and Exhibition at Sandton Convention Center from August 20 - 22, 2024. The theme for the conference was "Boosting Continental Trade via Rail Investments in African Railways for the Sustainable Development of the Continent". The theme focused on how to enhance trade across Africa through strategic investments in railway infrastructure, which could help support the sustainable development goals of the continent by improving connectivity and fostering economic growth.
